It was exciting to celebrate many of our students for their outstanding work ethic, academic achievement, and/or their strong leadership skills.
Alwin Holland has safety procedures in place so that staff and students know what to do in the unlikely event of an emergency. Fire drills have been practiced for many years. Lockdown drills are relatively new and can cause some anxiety for students. When you speak with your child about the importance of practicing safety drills, please do what you can to reduce their anxiety.
There will be a lockdown drill at Alwin Holland next week. Teachers are reminding students what to do in a lockdown situation so that they are well prepared.
If you have any questions or concerns, contact Ms. Orcutt or Mrs. Hartman at the school.
Below is a copy of the letter that was sent home Thursday.
Good luck to our boys’ volleyball team who will be representing us on Wednesday, Nov. 23rd at 3:30pm at North Peace Secondary School.
Good luck to both our our girls’ teams who will be representing Alwin Holland at the District Volleyball tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 22nd at North Peace Secondary School. The tournament will begin at 3:30pm and go until they are finished.
A reminder that students will be finished school at 1:45pm on both Wednesday and Thursday to allow for teachers to conference with parents about their child’s progress this first term.
Friday, November 25th will be a conference day so there will not be any school for students.
Don’t forget to come and shop at our Bazaar this Sunday from 10-4pm. There will be lots of great items to purchase! Any parents or students that are able to contribute to the PAC bake table would be greatly appreciated and will help to support our school.
We are looking forward to our Halloween parade on Monday, October 31st afternoon at 1:00pm in the gym. Students are asked not to wear their full costumes until after they have eaten lunch so that they won’t be uncomfortable or too hot in the morning, unless their teacher has specified differently.
The bazaar will be from 10:00-4:00pm on November 13th in our school gym. The PAC is looking for home based businesses within our school community or if you know of someone who may be interested please pass on this information.
The PAC is selling the tables for $20 to vendors. If you are interested in booking a table please contact:
Cheryl Batten at firstname.lastname@example.org or 250-263-9102
Just a reminder that the staff will be busy learning this Friday, Oct. 21st and that there will be no school for students.
We are excited to be hosting the boys’ and the girls’ soccer tournaments at Alwin Holland on Friday, September 30th and Saturday, October 1st. The senior boys will play on Friday at 3:00, 4:00, and 5:00pm with a final at 6:10pm.
Our girls’ team will play on Saturday at 9:30, 10:30, and 11:30am. There will be a final at 12:15pm for the top 2 teams.
We are hoping that the forecast for the weather is a day or two off so that both teams will be able to play their final games of the season.
